Slight chance of evening storms; cold front to lower temps, humidity

Strong thunderstorms remain possible for some tonight before a cold front swings through, bringing cooler and drier air into Friday and Saturday.

A Flood Advisory is in effect until 11:45 p.m. for Greene County., issued by the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms, with minor flooding expected after between 1 and 3 inches of rain has fallen. Motorists who encounter flooded roads should turn around. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles, the NWS said.

Seasonably cooler and less humid conditions are expected behind the cold front, which will persist into the weekend. It will be mostly cloudy tonight, with an overnight low of 67 degrees.

It won’t be as humid or as hot Friday with mostly sunny skies and a high temperature near 79 degrees. Friday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 59 degrees.

Skies will be partly sunny Saturday with a high near 80 degrees. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 60 degrees.

There is a slight chance of showers before 2 p.m. Sunday, followed by a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 3 p.m. Otherwise, the day will be mostly sunny with a high near 82 degrees. Skies clear later Sunday night, which will have an overnight low around 58 degrees.

Monday will be sunny with a high near 80 degrees. Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 57 degrees.
