Showers, thunderstorms move through region tonight

Showers and thunderstorms are likely tonight, and remain in the forecast over the next several days.

A few scattered showers and storms will continue to move through the region from southwest to northeast through the middle of the night before tapering off. Overnight lows are expected around 51 degrees. New rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter inch are likely, except for higher amounts possible in thunderstorms, the National Weather Service in Wilmington said.

Much of the overnight hours are expected to remain dry.

Friday will be partly cloudy, breezy and warm with highs near 74 degrees. There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms again in the afternoon. The rain is expected to end by nightfall.

Friday night will be cool as temperatures will fall to around 57 degrees. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Showers are likely Saturday, then showers and a possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. and highs near 70 degrees.

Saturday night, showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected before 8 p.m., then showers are likely with an overnight low around 50 degrees.

Sunday’s forecast calls for a chance of showers after 8 p.m. with a high near 62 degrees.
