After the past few days’ storms, the National Weather Service in Wilmington has announced some of the observed rainfall across the area, with totals ranging from next to none up to more than five inches of rain.

In a graphic posted to social media, the NWS said that Greenville received an observed 5.14 inches of rainfall.

The graphic shows that this is significantly above other reports in the area. In areas near downtown Dayton, two to three inches of rain fell, but in Miami Township near the intersection of Interstate 75 and Interstate 675, rainfall was measured at closer to half an inch, according to the graphic.

The NWS said that the “extremely irregular” rainfall totals is typical for summer rains, dropping four to five inches in some areas and others nearby receiving next to no rain.
