The high for Dayton today reached 94 degrees, one degree short of the record for this day set in 1908, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington. The high was 93 degrees in Cincinnati and 87 in Columbus.
Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 1 a.m.
Temperatures plunge for the first day of fall. Skies on Thursday will be mostly sunny, but the high in the mid-60s will be well below normal. It stays clear Thursday night, which will have an overnight low around 43 degrees.
Friday will be sunny and slightly warmer with a high temperature near 68 degrees. Clouds increase throughout the day for mostly cloudy skies Friday night. The overnight low will dip to around 53 degrees.
Saturday will be partly sunny and warmer with a high near 74 degrees. Overnight will be partly cloudy with a low around 57 degrees.
There’s a chance of showers between 2 and 8 p.m. Sunday, which otherwise will be sunny with a high near 75 degrees. Sunday night will be partly cloudy with an overnight low around 53 degrees.
Dry conditions are expected for the first part of the new workweek.
