During the alert, the agency said active children and adults, as well as people with respiratory diseases like asthma, should avoid all outdoor exertion. Everyone else should limit their outdoor exertion, it said.
In addition, to prevent more air pollution, the agency asked people in Butler and Warren counties to limit or avoid driving or using gas-powered lawn equipment. It also asked people to avoid using oil-based paints and stains, and avoid using fire pits or fireplaces for non-essential heating.
Today will be partly cloudy, with the National Weather Service in Wilmington predicting a few isolated showers possible in the late afternoon.

Highs will be around 87 degrees and lows will be around 64 degrees.
Friday will also be partly cloudy but warmer, with a high around 89 degrees. Temperatures overnight will fall to around 66 degrees.
Beginning just before dawn on Saturday the NWS predicted a slight chance of showers throughout the day, especially in the northern parts of the area.
Clouds will decrease throughout the day, for mostly clear skies by nightfall.
Highs will be around 88 degrees, falling to around 67 degrees overnight.
