Heat builds as drought continues

Skies will be partly cloudy with warm and muggy conditions during this drought, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said.

There is a slight chance for a pop-up shower early but most will remain dry. Temperatures will slowly drop back into the 70s after sunset.

Tonight, skies will become mostly clear, Elwell said. It will remain warm with temperatures in the upper 60s to near 70 degrees by morning.

Thursday: Partly cloudy skies return along with warm and muggy conditions. There will be some pop-up storms that develop during the afternoon and last into the early evening hours. Temperatures will reach into the upper 80s.

Friday: Skies will start out partly cloudy with increasing clouds late. A cold front will bring an increased chance for showers and storms toward the evening. Widespread rain is not expected though as the front will be fairly weak when it arrives. Temperatures will be able to make it to near 90 degrees during the afternoon before the front pushes in during the evening.

Saturday: After some morning clouds, skies will clear with slightly cooler and less humid conditions in the afternoon. Highs will reach into the middle 80s.

Sunday: Expect lots of sunshine with seasonable temperatures in the middle 80s.

Monday: More sunshine is expected to start the week with rising temperatures. Highs will rebound into the upper 80s.
