Today will be cold, cloudy and breezy, with a chance of scattered snow showers late this afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Highs will be around 36 degrees.

The NWS said that it expects snow accumulations to be light, but that snow showers could produce quick bursts of snow that could reduce visibility and make slick spots on roads.

Winds will pick up this evening, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Gusty winds are expected to continue for most of the night, causing wind chill values before dawn on Thursday to drop to around zero degrees.

Clouds will decrease overnight, for mostly clear skies around sunrise.

Temperatures will fall to lows around 16 degrees overnight.

There will be increasing clouds and light winds on Thursday, with highs only reaching around 27 degrees.

Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with lows around 19 degrees.

Friday will be a little warmer, with highs reaching around 39 degrees under partly sunny skies, followed by a cloudy night with lows around 30 degrees and a chance of showers after midnight.
