Former Ohio governor John Kasich is taking up yoga with his wife, Karen Kasich, and posted a short video about his first foray into the ancient practice.
“I took my first yoga class today, right beside my wife. You know, it was pretty hard, pretty challenging but I kind of figured out it’s not about me versus the world, it’s trying to get the most out of what I’ve got,” Kasich says into the camera, while wearing a blue sweatshirt and weekend stubble.
The 27-second video, posted Saturday afternoon, received more than 136,000 views on Twitter and 16,000 views and more than 200 comments on Facebook, including remarks both encouraging and rude.
“Yoga is challenging but it is invigorating as well. Keep up the good work. We need you healthy so you can run for President,” one woman wrote.
“I voted for u TWICE BUT you changed into a freakin RINO,” a woman.
“Crawl back under your rock,” urged a man named Michael.
The video appears to be records outside a building and doesn’t include any footage of him practicing yoga poses.
In the video, Kasich said he has to continue yoga because “change is really good. It keeps you young and has you looking into the future.”
Kasich left the governor’s office last month after two, four-year terms. He recently signed with a California-based talent agency to represent him for media and book deals, paid speaking engagements and other gigs. Kasich is now a regular contributor on CNN.
He has not ruled out running for president for a third time.
