Holiday music

Bill Purk and friends will provide holiday entertainment, “Purk & Friends” at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Village in Springfield.

Housing meeting

Springfield Metropolitan Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners regular board meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Office training room, 2026 W. Main St.

Hospice ribbon cutting

Cherish Hospice will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility’s new Ohio headquarters beginning at noon Tuesday at 1929 E. High St.

The ribbon cutting will be followed by leaders’ remarks, lunch, tours and booths showcasing hospice’s services.

The event will feature Springfield Mayor Rob Rue, Clark County Combined Health District Commissioner Chris Cook, Springfield Fire Rescue Division Chief Jacob King and Springfield Police Sergeant Deric Nichols, Springfield Chamber of Commerce Investor Relations Coordinator Kathy Moss, and Cherish Hospice CEO and founder Sim Engel. Also invited are Clark County Commissioners Melanie Wilt, Lowell McGlothin and Sasha Rittenhouse, and Clark County Sheriff Deb Burchett.

Wood workshop

Our Kitchen Window Winery & Home Goods will host a five-piece handcrafted wood nativity set workshop at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 223 N. Main St. in Urbana.

Free lecture

A free lecture, The Christmas Truce at the Western Front, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Champaign Aviation Museum, 1652 N. Main St. in Urbana, in the library.

Presenter Bill Albers will talk about the historic event in honor of the holiday. The lecture will include the history of World War I and the events that led up to the Christmas Truce in 1914. Complimentary hot tea and cookies/biscuits will be served.

Food pantry

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 712 N. Fountain Ave., will host a drive-thru food pantry starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

I.D. is required. The pantry distributes food every third Thursday of each month.

Enchanted Forest

Through December leading up to Christmas, the Heritage Center’s second Floor Hellmuth Rotating Gallery has been transformed into an Enchanted Forest. Guests are invited to wander through a twinkling wonderland of beautifully decorated holiday trees, each uniquely adorned to capture the festive spirit.

The experience is free. The room will be open to enjoy during the museum’s regular hours, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.

There will be a special evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday when Santa will join for visits, photos, and holiday cheer. There will be crafts available on the first floor in Crabill Discovery Hall during those evenings.

Christmas Tree Lighting

Trustwell Living will host a Christmas Tree Lighting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at 609 E. Water St. in Urbana.

This event will include the tree lighting, door prizes for those who RSVP and Trustwell Living will show you what they do.
