Want free, fast delivery? Target will offer it throughout the holiday season

In a move to keep up with other retailers expanding delivery services, Target is offering free two-day shipping this holiday season.

The free two-day shipping will begin Nov. 1 on hundreds of thousands of items with no minimum purchase requirement and no membership, according to a company statement. That sets it aside from retailers like Amazon that require a membership and others that require orders to reach a specific dollar amount before delivery for free is an option.

The free delivery will run through Dec. 22, before returning to the usual minimum $35 order unless using the stores credit card.

“We want to make the busy holiday season easier for our guests so they can spend more time with their family and friends,” said Target CEO Brian Cornell. “From same-day delivery with Shipt, Drive Up, Free 2-Day Shipping and more, no other retailer can match the convenient delivery options that Target will offer this season.”

Target’s goal is to be the first retailer to offer same-day delivery and pickup nationwide. Millions of customers in 46 states have delivery in as little as an hour available through Shipt.

The company is also expanding its Drive Up program to nearly 1,000 stores by the end of this month. The service that allows customers to pick up their orders without leaving their cars debuted in Dayton earlier this year.
