On this day in 2008: Blizzard conditions

With temperatures near 70 this week, the chance to see snow on the ground is non-existent.

However, last year at this time we did have snow on the ground, and in 2008 we had a lot of it, said StormCenter 7 Meteorologist Brett Collar.

What some call the “North American Blizzard of 2008” hit between March 7-8 in 2008, leaving behind feet of snow, a large number of traffic accidents, and even a handful of deaths.

Here in the Miami Valley, the storm left its footprint as well. Dayton received over 15 inches of snow which left the area crippled, Collar said.

The University of Cincinnati men’s basketball team even had to postpone their game in Connecticut due to the fact that they were not able to travel that day.

The storm left much of the Miami Valley under at least 12 inches of snow, very different than what we’re seeing this week.
