The Ohio Department of Commerce and National Cyber Security Alliance are urging Ohioans to be safer online during National Cyber Security Awareness Month.
The 2019 theme, “OWN IT. SECURE IT. PROTECT IT.” is to emphasize online safety and the importance of cybersecurity practices at home, on the go and in the workplace.
During October, the Division of Financial Institution will be sharing cybersecurity information and resources to help individuals and organizations protect their money and recognize risks, threats and vulnerabilities.
“Beware of phishing emails that implore you to act immediately, even if they appear to come from a real financial institution, government agency or any other service, business or individual,” said Ohio Department of Commerce Director Sheryl Maxfield. “If the email comes from an organization but still looks “phishy,” reach out to them via customer service to verify the communication.”
