The Springfield Sports Academy will hold a Christmas Party on Saturday that will be open to the public, and will feature coat and toy giveaways.

The party, from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, will be at the Springfield Sports Academy on South Wittenberg Avenue. School officials said it “will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland.”

Food will be served and attendees can enjoy a visit from Santa Claus, as well as a toy raffle. Winter coats, which were collected at a drive at CoHatch the Market, will be gifted to K-12 students while supplies last.

Attendees can also enjoy live music with the Champion City Trio performing, as well as some student performances. Former Ohio State football players Braxton Miller and DeVier Posey will attend to meet community members.

“This event is designed to foster community connections and celebrate the spirit of the holidays. All families across the city of Springfield are welcome,” the school said. “Whether you’re looking to enjoy great food, take pictures with Santa, or simply soak in the festive atmosphere, there’s something for everyone at the Winter Wonderland Christmas Party.”

The sports academy is supported by Miller, a Springfield native, and owned and operated by ACCEL School Network, a company that operates charter schools across the country, including 78 in Ohio.

The party is sponsored by the Braxton Miller Foundation, Springfield Elite and As the Crowe Flies.
