A man was injured late Saturday night after he was struck by an SUV in Springfield.

Crews were sent around 11:10 p.m. to the intersection of Rice Street and Tibbetts Avenue on a report of a man struck by a vehicle and laying in the roadway, according to the Springfield Police Division.

Police said the victim and the victim and suspect, his girlfriend and mother of their three children, had been arguing inside a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe when the man stepped out and asked someone to help him remove her from the SUV.

The woman climbed into the driver’s seat and drove off, striking the victim, police said. Witnesses saw the SUV drive run a stop sign as it fled the area, the police report states.

The SUV was stopped at North Limestone Street and East Fifth Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The woman, whose name was not released was arrested, according to police.

Emergency services were called for the victim, police said, but the extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

The incident remains under investigation.
