When police arrived, they spoke with an employee who showed them where several shots had been fired and officers found six 9mm shell casings and broken glass on the ground in the parking lot.
The employee told officers he was on break outside with the victim who was sitting in the driver seat of his vehicle when a man with a black hooded sweatshirt and red bandanna face mask came into the parking lot, the report stated. A vehicle with two other men inside also was parked a few spots down from the victim’s vehicle.
“One of the males got out of the vehicle and got into (the victim’s) passenger seat and attempted to rob him by digging into his right pocket. The male in the black hooded sweatshirt and red bandanna then walked around to the driver side of the vehicle. (The victim) then called out he was being robbed and that he had a gun,” the report stated.
The two suspects then fled and the victim drove to a local hospital, where he was treated for two minor gunshot wounds to his left side and released, the report stated.
Officers found the victim’s vehicle a short time later with bullet holes, and the victim said he didn’t have any information on either suspect because it “all happened so fast” but nothing was taken because the victim said he didn’t have anything on him, according to the report.
No other suspect or witness information was available.
Springfield police continue their investigation into this incident.
