A Springfield man is being held on a $10,000 bond in connection to a woman’s abduction.

Brian Rozell, 45, pleaded not guilty in the Clark County Municipal Court to abduction, according to court records. He was given a $10,000 bond and is to have no contact with the woman. He was listed as an inmate in the Clark County Jail as of Monday afternoon, jail records show.

Police arrested Rozell after deputies reviewed camera surveillance footage of an assault that took place on Jan. 30 at a residence, according to an affidavit filed in the case.

Officers spoke with the prosecutor on Feb. 4 in reference to the domestic violence case, where both reviewed camera footage of the assault they described as “a vicious attack.” They decided to proceed with the case by completing an emergency request and search warrant for video footage of the incident, which was completed after not being able to get in contact with the victim.

Officers were able to talk with the victim on Feb. 5 in reference to the incident and “the level of fear she felt and if she felt free to leave during the assault,” the affidavit stated.

In the surveillance video, police observed Rozell assault and terrorize the woman while pacing around the house, according to the affidavit. He also “holds her down on the couch, pushes her into the couch, and sits next to her and leans over into her” before locking the deadbolt on the front door, the affidavit stated.

The woman told police she was afraid to leave because Rozell “made a comment already that if she tried to get to the door she’d be dead.”

After officers reviewed the footage and talked with the woman, Rozell was arrested on Feb. 5 on an abduction charge.
