Sinclair to train industrial maintenance workers in Warren, Butler

Sinclair Community College has been awarded a $21,000 grant from Duke Energy to train industrial maintenance technicians for companies in Warren County and Butler counties

The training program will provide online and hands-on training for students looking to enter the high-demand field, according to Sinclair.

Both Butler and Warren counties are expected to have a 19 percent increase in industrial maintenance jobs by 2026.

But, there currently are not enough workers or trainees to fill those anticipated jobs, according to Sinclair.

The grant will help Sinclair create a model to train veterans, displaced workers, and incumbent workers seeking additional skills for advancement.

Applicants to the program will be assessed in mechanical ability, aptitude, interest tests, and more to determine their “fit” for occupations in manufacturing, according to the college.
