Springfield police are investigating after a juvenile was reportedly grazed by a bullet after a shots fired incident.

Officers were dispatched around 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday to the area of Linden and Grand avenues on a report of shots fired, according to a Springfield police report. Dispatch also told officers that a juvenile may have been shot in the back as well.

When police arrived, they spoke with the juvenile’s father while medics arrived to take the juvenile to the hospital.

“(The father) stated that he heard two to three gunshots. He then ran to the north facing porch (front door) and observed a vehicle taking off,” the report stated.

Officers were able to speak with a few witnesses in the area and watch some surveillance footage.

“Surveillance footage shows that it was a dark colored car in front of (a house on) Linden Avenue that was accelerating away from the area at the time of the incident,” the report stated.

At this time, police responded to the hospital to talk to the juvenile who had a laceration on his left shoulder blade that made it “appear that a bullet grazed” him, the report stated.

No other suspect or witness information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this incident.
