Reward for information on missing teen

The family of a 17-year-old boy reported missing last week will be offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to his whereabouts.

According to information the Clark County Sheriff’s Office released late Thursday afternoon, Jacob Haney, of New Carlisle, was last seen playing basketball Tuesday evening in the area of Smith Park. He did not return home and his family could not find him the next morning.

Smith Park and the areas surrounding it were searched Tuesday and again Thursday afternoon by members of the sheriff’s criminal investigations division and members of Haney’s family.

Sheriff’s investigators said Haney could possibly be headed to the Montgomery County, Ky., city of Mount Sterling, where he has friends.

Anyone who sees Haney is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (937) 328-2560.

Springfield

Woman accused of stabbing another

Amber M. Simason, 23, of 425 Selma Road was placed in Clark County Jail on a felonious assault charge after another woman was stabbed Thursday afternoon in the 700 block of Linden Avenue, according to Springfield police.

Police allege she and the 20-year-old victim were in a mutual fight when Simason pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim once in the shoulder.

The victim was transported by ground medic to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released. The suspect was also treated and released for cuts to her hand from the knife and taken into custody. STAFF REPORT

Two threatened with guns in separate robberies Friday

Two men were reportedly robbed at gunpoint in separate robberies just more than an hour apart.

A 22-year-old told Springfield police he was making a phone call on the front yard of a home in the 30 block of East Madison Avenue about 12:30 a.m. when a man approached, held a handgun to his head and demanded money or he would kill him.

The victim gave his wallet containing $2 and a debit card to the suspect who then fled the scene.

About 1:15 a.m., a 28-year-old man told police he was approached by a man wearing a hood or a mask in the 400 block of East Grand Avenue who displayed a handgun and demanded money. A cell phone was taken.

The suspect is alleged to have struck the victim in the head with the gun. The victim was treated at Springfield Regional Medical Center. STAFF REPORT

Thefts

• Copper wire and pipe, valued at $2,100, were reported stolen from a vacant home owned by Springfield Metropolitan Housing Authority in the 600 block of East Grand Street between noon Monday and 6 a.m. Friday.

• A cutting torch, valued at more than $1,000, was reported stolen in a break-in at Weiler Welding, 403 W. Columbia St., about 1 a.m. Thursday.

• Four games systems and games and about 100 DVD movies, valued more than $780, were reported stolen in a burglary of a home in the 2100 block of Beatrice Street between 9 a.m. and 2:20 p.m. Thursday.
