Places to stay cool

Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek said that the entire Miami Valley is under a heat advisory. An excessive heat warning is in effect for Montgomery County. The advisory and warning run from noon to 8 p.m. today.

He said the heat index will reach 100 this afternoon. Downtown areas could feel like 105 or higher.

“I’m not expecting much chance for relief in the form of rain today, said Wirdzek. “Or the rest of the week for that matter."

He said a few thunderstorms could pop up late in the day today, tomorrow and Thursday. But he added that it will not make much impact if it happens.

Wirdzek said highs today, tomorrow and Thursday will be in the mid 90s.

“Friday and Saturday temperatures will climb closer to 100 with no chance of rain” he said.
