What’s next for Kasich?

Now that John Kasich has bowed out of the presidential race, what’s next for him — other than finishing his term as governor, that is?

Our politics reporter, Lynn Hulsey, offered a few suggestions last week. He could run for vice president, though he’s said he’s not interested in the job at this point. Donald Trump, however, says he’d consider Kasich.

He could run for U.S. Senate — or even run for president again. “At 63 Kasich is young enough to take another shot in 2020 or 2024 and by then the Republican Party electorate may have evolved again and a more moderate Republican could get the nomination,” Hulsey wrote. The public sector beckons, as well — TV commentator? Consultant?

She noted he could get a Trump cabinet post, too. A lot has to happen before that one’s an actual possibility, of course.
