Man dies in stabbing near Meijer in north Springfield

Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that happened Tuesday shortly before noon in the parking lot of the Meijer store on Hillcrest Avenue — just east of the Troy Road-Bechtle Avenue intersection.

The Springfield Police Division said that one man in his 30s was found dead of a stab wound to the torso. The stabbing is still under investigation.

Police said no one has been charged yet, but did not offer further details.
