The Kettering Marco’s Pizza restaurant located at 5860 Bigger Road and the Xenia Marco’s Pizza restaurant located at 281 East Main St. have shut down.
Customers of the Kettering Marco’s Pizza encountered a sign announcing the shutdown on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

“It is with great regret that we announce the closure” of the restaurant, the sign posted at the Kettering Marco’s Pizza said. “We at this location have served some of the most loyal and local customers.”
The sign explained that the Marco’s Pizza located at 2400 South Smithville Road, near the northern Kettering border, will continue to operate.
An employee at the Smithville store confirmed that his shop is now serving most of the territory previously served by the Bigger Road store, and said all employees of the Bigger Road store were offered positions at other Marco’s Pizza locations.
When customers of the Xenia location attempt to call the restaurant, a recorded message says, “We apologize, but our location is no longer open for business.”

The Xenia location shut down on Sunday, Dec. 22.
“Because most of our locations are owned by individual franchisees, there could be a variety of reasons for closing,” a spokeswomen for Marco’s Pizza said on Thursday, Dec. 26. “In the case of the Kettering closure, it was a shift in the franchisee’s overall growth strategy for the area. In regard to Xenia, we assume it was a real-estate allocation decision based on market conditions.”
Marco’s Pizza, a Toledo-based restaurant, was founded in 1978. The pizza-chain operates dozens of pizza restaurants in the southwest Ohio. According to Marco’s Pizza website, nearly 100 Marco’s Pizza stores have opened in 2019.
