Springfield officer hurt in crash with semi truck

A Springfield officer has been injured in a crash involving a semi truck near the intersection of North Fountain Avenue and East Columbia Street, according to Springfield dispatch records.

Dispatchers said that around 3:16 a.m., a semi and a patrol vehicle crashed, injuring the officer. The officer was taken to the hospital, and it was unknown whether the driver of the semi was injured.

A hazmat team was called to the scene because the semi was leaking diesel fuel, police said.
