Northern Ohio woman killed in Greene County crash was Central State grad

UPDATE @ 9:03 p.m. (April 17): The South Euclid resident killed April 12 in a head-on collision in Cedarville Twp. was a Central State University graduate.

Shavonne Janea McDowell graduated in 2016, Sabrina Pritchett, associate director of university PR, confirmed Wednesday.

INITIAL REPORT (April 12) 

A Northern Ohio woman has been identified as the driver killed in the head-on collision in Greene County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Shavonne Janea McDowell, 25, of South Euclid, was westbound on Wilberforce-Clifton Road when her VW Jetta went left of center and struck an oncoming commercial box truck, according to the state patrol.

Marvin Magana, 28, of Columbus, was driving the truck. He and one of two passengers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to a hospital.

The second truck passenger was not injured.

McDowell, who was alone, was not wearing her seat belt, according to the patrol.

Sgt. Matt Cleaveland, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Xenia Post, said state patrol investigators have not been able to determine why the sedan crossed the center line.

The crash was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m.
