Unfortunately, these boxes serve as vital information to potential thieves who want to raid your house. Police recommend that you only put your new boxes out the day of your trash pickup so people cannot see them for an extended period of time, making your house a target.

Sgt. Mike Keegen of the Moraine Police Department also advises residents to drop off bigger boxes at the nearest landfill to help get them off your property faster.

WHIO’s Monica Castro will have more on this story including additional ways to keep your house safe on NewsCenter 7 beginning at 5 p.m.
