Collins said he answered “no” when the man asked him if he had a cell phone. With that, police said Collins told them, the man reached into the vehicle — the window had been rolled down — and said, “Well … that’s too bad. Give me what you got on you.”
Collins said he fought the man’s attempt to grab him out of the vehicle, but the assailant kicked Collins in the area of his ribs, according to the report.
Once the train passed, Collins said, he was able to put the vehicle in gear and he drove to the Goodwill store in the 1900 block of North Bechtle Avenue, where he called police.
A medic crew was called and Collins was checked out, but he refused treatment, police said.
Police said Collins was unable to give them any other details about the suspect. No arrests have been made.
