Man trapped in flipped, crashed truck

Emergency crews and medics freed a man who was trapped in his truck for 45 minutes after a rollover accident on US 68.

Crews were dispatched to the scene, just north of the OH 41 exit of US 68, just after 11 p.m. on reports of a vehicle on its top.

The driver, Jesse Gannon,19 from Michigan, was headed southbound on US 68 when he crossed the median and the northbound lanes, rolled the vehicle several times and landed his truck on its side in a ditch, according to reports.

Gannon was involved in an earlier domestic dispute at 10:30 p.m. Saturday night when he left the scene of the dispute highly intoxicated. Officials had been searching for his vehicle until they discovered it and their suspect at the scene of the accident, troopers confirmed.

Rescue crews finally extracted Gannon from his vehicle just after 12:20 a.m. by removing the top of the truck cab. He was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, mainly to his legs, troopers said.

Alcohol is suspected in the cause of the crash, which remains under investigation. The State Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
