Northwestern Local School posted a message on Facebook earlier this week telling parents they are not confident a milk shipment scheduled for Monday will arrive.

“To ensure every that every student has something to drink with their meal, we will have water on hand as a backup,” the district said in the Facebook post. “If you would like your child to have something other than water, please feel free to send something with them.”

On Monday, Borden Dairy Co. filed or bankruptcy protection, and in November, Dean Foods, the nation’s largest milk producer, also filed for bankruptcy protection.
