Thieves submerge stolen car in Mad River in Clark County

UPDATE @ 8:40 p.m.

A blue Dodge Nitro found submerged in the Mad River tonight off Upper Valley Pike in German Twp. had been reported stolen, according to Clark County Sheriff’s deputies.

No one was found inside the vehicle, which had its airbags deployed. The car thieves apparently used some wood to help guide the car into the water, deputies said.

No one was in the car, and no one was found in the area when crews were called shortly before 7 p.m.

The car was pulled from the water and towed from the scene.

FIRST REPORT

Crews were called this evening to a report of a submerged car in German Twp., Clark County.

The car was reported in the water shortly before 7 p.m. at the dead end of Creekwood Court, off Upper Valley Pike near Springfield.

There is no word on whether anyone was inside the vehicle or what caused it to go into the water.
