Cozy up to the fire: 3 things to do this weekend in Clark County

Fall is here, but the cooler temperatures are no reason to keep yourself cooped up. Here are three events happening in Clark County this weekend to get your feet moving and your toes tapping.

1. Songs of the Night

Looking to enjoy a cozy night by the fire? Come to George Rogers Clark Park for their Songs of the Night Campfire event, which will take place Friday, Nov. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Attendees will enjoy the music of singer-songwriter Steve Maxell on guitar and be invited to sing along as they enjoy the quiet atmosphere. The event is free and open to the public.

2. The Dayton Train Show

Bring the whole family to enjoy the sights and sounds of the 42nd annual Dayton Train Show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at the Upper Valley Mall. The show will be spread over 80,000 square feet of space, featuring 15 working train layouts, 400 vendors and more. There will also be hourly door prizes for attendees. Tickets for the show are $7 for adults and $6 for active military personnel. Children under 12 can attend for free with a paying adult.

3. Opening Day at Home Plate Sports

Follow in the footsteps of the World Series-winning Houston Astros on Saturday, Nov. 4, at the opening day celebration for Home Plate Sports, located at 1475 Upper Valley Pike in Springfield. The festivities will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Attendees can enjoy food and drinks, as well as watch the first pitches of the facility’s fall sports league. Vendors will also be available to sell goods. Admission is free and open to the public.
