Current Residence: South Charleston

Family: Married to Sandra Hardman Campbell, four children, 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Career after military: Law enforcement in Yellow Springs, now retired.

Branch of Service: U.S. Marine Corps

Did you join the military or were you drafted? Enlisted

Dates of service: 1964 to 1968

Deployments/Bases: Vietnam

Total time that you served: Four years

What did you do in the service: Served in communications and on a forward observer team.

What did you gain from serving in the military? The Marine Corps gave me the opportunity to travel, some good, some bad. Either way, it did broaden my horizons and I’m grateful for that. I am currently involved with three different veteran’s groups and find that very fulfilling. (John Campbell has served as a commander of Springfield’s Chapter 620, Military Order of the Purple Heart, and also as commandant of Springfield’s Marine Corps League.)
