House Speaker Paul Ryan meets with fellow RedHawks in D.C.

One of Miami University’s most famous graduates hosted students from his alma mater for a behind-the-scenes look at the office of the U.S. Speaker of the House.

House Speaker Paul Ryan hosted a group last week of 17 Miami University students spending the semester in Washington, D.C. Two of the students were economics and political science majors, which was what Ryan also studied at Miami.

Ryan and the students spoke on various topics, including Congressional Republican’s efforts of repealing and replacing Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare; working toward economic goals like tax reform and regulatory relief; and the Stream Rule, which is legislation passed by the House and recently signed into law by President Donald Trump to regarding American coal mining jobs.
