Gusty winds, heavy rains to return this evening

Fire crews confirm the tree that closed a portion of Spangler Road earlier today in Cark County has been removed and the road is now open.

Dispatcher said no one was hurt when the tree landed on power lines on the left side of the road about a mile before I-675.

FIRST REPORT

Gusty winds and heavy rains early this afternoon caused some problems on roadways in the Miami Valley, and a second round of weather is expected early this evening.

Another strong storm is expected to pass through beginning around 5 p.m. Gusty winds and heavy rains are again the main concerns.

Just after noon today, a large tree came down on Spangler Road during high winds and heavy downpours. The tree is resting on utility lines and is stretched across the road. Clark County deputies are blocking traffic from entering until a road crew can remove the hazard.

The heavy rains led to at least one crash on the highways. A family from Indiana escaped without injury when their car hydroplaned and went off the road on I-70 West near Enon.

Damage was also reported in the Wilmington area, according to the National Weather Service. Large tree down on East Short Street and a tree also fell at Wilmington College.
