The FedEx Ground-South Dayton Facility will be on Byers Road in Miami Twp. and is estimated to cost $18.5 million, according to construction plans filed with Montgomery County government this month. It will have a maximum occupancy of 568, according to building permit application documents.
FedEx had not confirmed its plans until Friday.
New information on plans for the distribution center follows a FedEx earnings report that showed an emphasis in capital investment with FedEx Ground. Executives said there will be “a number” of changes that will “fundamentally change” FedEx Ground.
Township records show the center could employ “at least 195 people at its largest shift.” But county records do not appear to address how many jobs overall would be coming to the facility at 8650 Byers Road.
Developer Scannell Properties was given final development plan approval in January after Miami Twp. last fall granted a rezoning request.
Scannell officials indicated for months they were in talks with possible tenants, but as of last week were not ready to announce a deal.
The FedEx Ground plan calls for 845 parking spaces. Those numbers show 474 spaces for automobiles, 131 for long trailers, 125 for “HD vans” and 94 for 28-foot trailers, according to county documents.
More than 50 docking bays are planned for the south and east sides, records indicate. The majority appear to be on the east side, which faces I-75.
