Springfield man accused of sexually assaulting child

Thomas Boucher, 62, was charged in Clark County Municipal Court with two counts of gross sexual imposition in connection to the sexual assault of a child under the age of 13.

Boucher pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $10,000.

Eric Dean, 35, was sentenced to prison in connection to a February robbery at Hardee’s.

Dean pleaded guilty in Clark County Common Please Court. He was sentenced to seven years in prison. He received jail time credit from Feb. 14, the day the alleged robbery took place.

Two 14-year-old boys were charged in connection to a lockdown at Tecumseh Local Schools on Wednesday, May 8.

The two teens were taken to Clark County Juvenile Detention Center after deputies found them on Whaley Road with a loaded firearm.

The teens face charges of carrying a concealed weapon and inducing panic. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.

A next court hearing for the teens is scheduled for May 15.

The Children’s Memorial in Springfield has been vandalized, and it seems the vandals tried to target the statues of two murder victims.

It appears an unknown person or persons climbed to the upper level of the memorial and hurled large rocks into the pond below.

Netting above the pond was found with holes in it. Many of the holes in the netting are above two statues honoring Phree Morrow and Martha Leach, two young girls who were murdered in 1992.

Man fatally shot on Clifton Avenue was robbed, police say

Springfield police are asking for help to identify a ‘person of interest’ in a fatal shooting on Clifton Avenue.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jose Hermilo Lopez Gutierrez, 50, from Springfield.

Lt. Lou Turner said the shot went through the victim’s arm and out his side.

The man was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center after the shooting, but was later pronounced dead.

Based on what police have found, Turner said it appears the man was also robbed.

Surveillance video from a neighbor shows a woman wearing a red hoodie, blue jacket, grey pants and pink shoes at a nearby house.

The woman is seen walking casually and smoking a cigarette, then running away with the hood up not long after.

Turner encouraged anyone with information to call 937-324-7707.
