Fox Searchlight has released "Old Man and The Gun"  on Sept. 28. The film is based on bank robber and escape artist Forrest "Woody" Tucker's real life. It's one of a short list of films with the sought-after "Certified Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“A well-told story brought to life by a beautifully matched cast, The Old Man & the Gun is pure, easygoing entertainment for film fans — and a fitting farewell to a legend.”

Much of the movie was filmed in and around Cincinnati, but Grigsby said the film made a $200,000 economic impact here during its two days of filming downtown in May 2017.

About 75 extras from the region were used and about 35 of the 100 member crew were local residents, Grigsby said.

“(The film) is validation of the fact that movies can be made here,” she said. “From FilmDayton’s perspective, it is all about bringing jobs to Ohio ad using that tax incentive.”

The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit offers a refundable, transferable tax credit of 30 percent on production cast and crew wages and other eligible in-state spending, according to the state's film office.
