Gearheads, motorheads, car nuts and grease monkeys get one last hurrah this year at the Winter Swap Meet and Car Show at the fairgrounds next weekend.

Visitors will find vintage cars, hot rods, and classics, some to see and some to buy, plus all types of car parts to stock up on until the spring. “What amazes me is that we have this event in November, and we still have 1,000 vendor spaces filled,” said Jim Wirth of Famous Auto Promotions.

Car shows in Ohio are wildly popular, Wirth said. “Ohio is the center point for car collectors. Peterson Publishing would launch a new car magazine in Ohio and surrounding states to see if it would do well. It was a litmus test. If it did well, they knew it would do well across the States.”

The 126-acre fairgrounds is an ideal facility for this event. “It was formerly an airport, so it’s perfectly flat,” said Wirth. The central Ohio location, just off of Interstate 70 is also an advantage for the event.

But Wirth says there’s more to a successful event than a good location. “We try our hardest to serve our customers,” said Wirth. “For example, we offer free parts hauling out to the parking lot. Bring the whole family. We have lots to see for everyone.”
