Vera Bradley says customer data was hacked

Vera Bradley, a designer of women’s handbags and accessories, announced the breach of some customers’ payment card data.

The company said payment cards used at Vera Bradley store locations between July 25 and Sept. 23 may have been affected, but not all cards used in stores during this time frame have been impacted. Cards used on the company website were not affected.

On Sept.15, Vera Bradley was provided information from law enforcement regarding a potential data security issue related to our retail store network, the company said.

The company launched an investigation with the assistance of a computer security firm to gather facts and determine the scope of the issue and promptly notified the payment card networks, the company said.

Information on steps customers may take to protect their information can be found at www.verabradley.com/protectingourcustomers.

There are 14 stores in the Miami Valley that carry Vera Bradley items, but no Vera Bradley stores in the area. There is a Vera Bradley store location at Kenwood Towne Centre in Cincinnati, and another location at the Tanger Outlets in Jeffersonville.
