The operator for Dayton-area Panera Bread restaurants has acquired an additional 15 bakery-cafe locations in another state.
Warren, Ohio-headquartered Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, announced the acquisition of 15 Panera locations in North Carolina. The deal adds to Covelli’s more than 300 locations. The acquisition of the North Carolina locations follows the 22 bakery-cafes added to Covelli’s franchises at the end of 2016.
“Our franchise could not be more excited to acquire these North Carolina markets where we see such amazing growth potential for the Panera Bread concept,” said Sam Covelli, owner and operator of Covelli Enterprises. “Our company is committed to bringing the loyal customers in this region the best food, served by the friendliest employees, in the cleanest restaurants possible, all while giving back to the local communities in any way we can.”
Covelli Enterprises, which has locations in six states, also scored a national shout-out when they won Panera’s “Franchisee of the Year” award in March. The award was presented in Nashville, Tennessee at Panera Bread’s “Family Reunion.”
