Most local jobs openings in trucking, health care, retail

Job seekers in the region are most likely to find opportunities in health care, retail and trucking, based on analysis of online help wanted advertisements posted from April to May, the latest monthly update released from the state Friday.

Kettering Health Network had posted 382 job advertisements over the month. That was the most by a single employer in the 12-county area of the Dayton and Springfield metropolitans from April 14 to May 13, according to the newly released report from Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Lowe’s home improvement stores was second locally, with 139 online job advertisements in the same time period and Emerson Climate Technologies Inc. was third with 130.

By occupation, truck drivers had the most advertised openings in the region from April to May with 711 jobs posted. A retail salesperson was the occupation with the second most job openings of 461, followed by registered nurses at 389.

The analysis of OhioMeansJobs.com is compiled by The Conference Board, a global nonprofit research group. OhioMeansJobs.com is website operated by Ohio Job and Family Services in partnership with Monster that aggregates any job advertisements posted online or directly on its website.
