Menards on schedule to open in Miami Twp.

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — The Menards “Mega Store” under construction at 8480 Springboro Pike just south of the Dayton Mall is on schedule to open this fall and will begin accepting applications in person at the store on Aug. 1, according to Menards spokesman Jeff Abbott.

The exact opening date and the number of employees that the new Menards will hire have not yet been determined, Abbott said.

Wisconsin-based Menards is building the $9 million, 160,000-square-foot store on 18 acres on the southeast corner of Ohio 741 and Lyons Road just south of the Dayton Mall. Abbott called the new Menards a “huge, super-sized store” that will have a full-service lumber yard and large garden center.

Applicants also can apply online anytime at www.menards.com, the company spokesman said.

In July 2011, Miami Twp. trustees unanimously approved a development agreement agreeing to contribute up to $1.5 million in tax-increment financing to the Menards project. Officials project $2 million in annual income tax revenues.

The family-owned company, founded in 1960, operates 268 stores in 14 states. In Ohio, there are already Menards stores in Fairfield Twp., Butler County; Tipp City in Miami County; as well as Sidney, Celina and Lima.
