Fiat Chrysler America will implement 3,207 temporary layoffs at its Toledo North Assembly Plant, the company confirmed in a letter to the Ohio Office of Workforce Development.
The layoffs will begin April 7 and are expected to last more than six months. The layoffs are necessary for the company to shift production of the Jeep Cherokee out of Toledo to make room for the Jeep Wrangler, according to The Toledo Blade, which first reported the news.
According to The Blade, the plant employs about 5,000 workers.
