Season’s first accumulating snow tonight

Accumulation is expected to be less than an inch but could create slick Wednesday morning commute.

The first accumulating snow of the season arrives mainly after 8 p.m. today but should end by midnight.

The snowfall is expected to be light, less than a half inch; however, low ground temperatures will allow for accumulation on any untreated surfaces and roadways that could create slick spots for the Wednesday morning commute, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

The high temperature today reached 26 degrees in Dayton, 28 in Cincinnati and 27 in Columbus. The overnight low is expected to drop to around 24 degrees.

Skies will remain cloudy through mid-morning Wednesday before it will gradually clear with a high temperature near 38 degrees.

Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 24 degrees.

A warmup starts Thursday, which has a slight chance of showers after 4 p.m. Skies will be partly sunny skies with a high near 48 degrees.

There is a chance of showers, mainly before midnight. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with an overnight low around 43 degrees.

It will be even warmer Friday, but wet for the end of the workweek. Skies will be cloudy with a high near 62 degrees. Showers are likely, mainly after 3 p.m., with showers and thunderstorms possible Friday night.
