Threat for wintry mix late this weekend

After a quiet start to the weekend, a storm system will spread a mix of rain and snow across the region on Sunday.

The precipitation will likely begin by midday Sunday and continue into Sunday evening. The timing will be key for precipitation types. Northern parts of the Miami Valley — mainly north of Interstate 70 — has the best chance for seeing a wintry mix Sunday while mostly rain is expected farther south.

The precipitation is expected to be light and little to no snow accumulation is expected. The precipitation is expected to come to an end by late Sunday evening. However, this could be just the beginning of active weather on the way next week, as the coldest air so far this season is poised to arrive before the week is over.
