Curtis picks Evansville after leaving Nebraska in December

Five weeks after announcing he was leaving the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball program eight games into his freshman season, Xenia High School graduate Samari Curtis announced his commitment to a new school: the University of Evansville.

Curtis made the announcement Monday on Twitter.

Curtis, a 6-foot-4 guard, appeared in the first eight games for Nebraska (4-4), averaging 6.1 minutes and 1.8 points.

Curtis signed with Nebraska in May after previously verbally committing to Xavier and then Cincinnati. He changed his mind about the first two programs after they lost their head coaches.

Curtis was Ohio's Mr. Basketball in 2019. He averaged 33.8 points per game as a senior. He scored a school-record 2,109 points in his career.
