The 6-foot-1 center finished with 23 points, 29 rebounds and 10 blocks for her first triple-double. Morris is averaging a Central Buckeye Conference-leading 14.7 rebounds and has double-digit rebounds in 10 straight games. She also averages 15.3 points and 3.3 rebounds.
Teamed with junior Jamari McDavid, who leads the CBC with 23.3 points and adds 9.7 rebounds, the Cougars have one of the area’s best inside games.
“She had a nice game that night,” Kenton Ridge coach Ed Foulk said of Morris. “I don’t know if we’ve had a girl get 10 blocks or not because usually I tell the girls not to block shots so they don’t get in foul trouble.”
Morris finished with 21 defensive rebounds.
Tecumseh bounced back with a 70-46 win against Doylestown Chippewa, the top-ranked team in Division III.
Tecumseh travels to Tippecanoe on Saturday, a clash between the top two teams in the CBC Kenton Division. Both teams are 6-1 in the division. The winner claims no worse than a share of the title.
The Arrows won the first meeting 66-48 on Dec. 9.
OHC chase tightens: West Liberty-Salem continues to lead the Ohio Heritage Conference at 9-1, and gets a little breathing room after Thursday.
Either Cedarville (6-1) or Greeneview (5-3) will end up with a loss after the teams meet. Greeneview won the first meeting 47-37.
Three of West Liberty-Salem’s final four games are against Cedarville (Jan. 28), Greeneview (Feb. 4) and Southeastern (Feb. 6).
Wildcat scratching out rebounds: Springfield sophomore Julona Martin leads the Greater Western Ohio Conference in rebounding with 11.4 per game.
She’s had 10 games with double-digit rebounds. In the three games she didn’t, she finished with nine. Martin grabbed a season-high 16 rebounds in a 50-31 win against Ponitz on Jan. 11.
