HS Roundup 1/9: Schipfer reaches 1,000 career point mark in ‘Burg win

Kasey Schipfer became the eighth girls basketball player in Mechanicsburg history to top the 1,000 career points mark in a 60-27 win versus Greeneview on Thursday.

Schipfer, who finished with 20 points, reached the mark on a foul shot in the third quarter.

Grace Forrest led the way with 23 points, 16 of which came in a first quarter that saw ‘Burg storm out to a 26-5 lead.

The win bumped ‘Burg to 11-1 overall and 8-0 in league play.

Girls Basketball

Arcanum 68, Milton-Union 25: Kayla O’Daniel and Taylor Gray each had a double-double and Gracie Garno added 11 assists with nine steals to lead Arcanum. Megan Jacobs hauled in 10 rebounds for Milton.

Bellbrook 47, Franklin 35: Brooklynn Hall scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half and Dreann Pryce added 10 points for Bellbrook. Jordan Rogers tallied 18 points for Franklin.

Bradford 63, Twin Valley South 32: Austy Miller posted 25 points and Emma Canan added 11 to help Bradford move to 9-2. Mackenzie Neal led TVS with 12 points.

Carlisle 56, Madison 41: Caitlyn Stewart netted 20 points and Kaylee Lawson added 17 for Carlisle, which improved to 10-1. Kenzie Saunders paced Madison with 12 points.

Catholic Central 39, Fairbanks 33: Abbigail Peterson led the way for Catholic Central with 19 points.

Cedarville 54, Triad 45: Luisa Christian recorded 24 points and Elly Coe tacked on 11 to lead Cedarville. Frani LeVan totaled 14 points for Triad.

Eaton 39, Oakwood 27: Bailey Shepherd scored 10 points and Eaton improved to 11-1.

Fairlawn 48, Urbana 38: Ashley Roush scored 14 points and MaCalla Huelskamp added 11 for Fairlawn. Samantha Rooney chipped in 15 points for Urbana.

Franklin Monroe 85, Tri-County North 16: Belle Cable nailed five three-point baskets on the way to 23 points for Franklin Monroe, which improved to 12-1. Corina Conley added 19 and Chloe McGlinch 14.

Legacy Christian 50, Miami Valley 10: Legacy Christian coach Mark Combs recorded his 100th career varsity victory in the win.

Lehman Catholic 48, Hardin Northern 23: Lauren McFarland bucketed 21 points to lead Lehman Catholic, which opened the game on a 16-4 run.

Marion Local 53, Parkway 23: Alana Pohlman and Molly Winner each netted 10 points to pace Marion Local.

Miami East 64, Newton 25: Paxton Hunley put up 19 points and Lauren Wright tacked on 12 to lead Miami East. Camryn Gleason had 11 points for Newton.

Minster 61, Coldwater 31: Ivy Wolf and Janae Hoying combined for 39 points to help Minster move to 11-2. Lauren Gilliland led Coldwater with 10 points.

New Knoxville 49, Versailles 42: Haley Fledderjohann and Morgan Leffel combined for 29 points to help New Knoxville pull off the upset. Brooke Stonebraker paced Versailles with 20 points.

Preble Shawnee 50, Dixie 29: Liv Thompson totaled 14 points to pace Preble Shawnee.

Tri-Village 67, Covington 32: Maddie Downing chipped in 22 points, Rylee Sagester 20 and Meghan Downing 10 to lead undefeated Tri-Village. Claudia Harrington scored 13 points for Covington.

Valley View 56, Monroe 46: Claire Henson netted 21 points and Aubrey Stupp 16 to help Valley View move to 7-0 in league play.

West Liberty-Salem 54, Madison Plains 25: Selena Weaver paced WLS with 17 points, Emily Hollar had 12 and Gabby Williams 10. The win improved WLS to 10-1.

Boys Bowling

Beavercreek 2485, Miamisburg 2355: The win bumped ‘Creek to 7-0 overall and 5-0 in league play. Deven Parkers rolled a career-high 289 game in a losing effort for ‘Burg.

Mechanicsburg 2367, West Liberty-Salem 2346: Jack Wolf paced ‘Burg with a 407 series and Peyton Leeson added a 226 game.

Middletown 2398, Trotwood 1868: Austin Smith recorded games of 247 and 212 and Ethan Rowe added a 258 game for Middletown.

Girls Bowling

Mechanicsburg 2065, West Liberty-Salem 1757: Kennedy Moore scored a 338 series and Samantha Hoover a 305 for ‘Burg. Katie Rollins tallied a 445 series in the loss for WLS.

Middletown 1802, Trotwood 1180: Emily Cupp had games of 205 and 182 and Mary Fletcher added a season-high 155 for Middletown.

Piqua 1994, Mississinawa Valley 1895: Katelyn Lear bowled a 320 series and Katelyn Brown a 308 to lead Piqua.

Xenia YMCA Championships: Hadleigh Burdette set a school record in the 50-backstroke event for Legacy Christian.
