The Arrows clobbered winless Stebbins 43-6 on Friday, Oct. 9, to improve to 7-0 and 2-0 in the Central Buckeye Conference Kenton Trail Division.
“It was awful,” Massie said. “It’s a good field, but it didn’t drain very well.”
The Arrows, ranked fifth in Division II, have won 18 straight regular-season games. They have won six games in a row by at least 34 points and have not given up more than seven points in a game since the season-opening 21-14 win over Fairborn.
Despite a run of lopsided victories, Tecumseh hasn’t lost focus.
“We can’t show up and expect anyone to give us anything,” Massie said. “We know we’ve got to earn everything we get. We’ve got to show up and be ready to play and stay focused and do the little things right, and we did that tonight. I was pleased with the kids’ effort.”
Kyle Sanning rushed for 90 yards on nine carries. He scored on a 48-yard run and caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Riley Gault, who attempted only two passes all game.
Dustin Holmes had 67 yards on nine carries. On his 29-yard touchdown run, he hurdled a defender and stayed on his feet.
Zeke Eier, Chuck Buchanan and Gault also scored rushing touchdowns. Tecumseh hosts Shawnee (5-2, 1-1 CBC) on Friday, Oct. 16.
“Shawnee’s just a couple of plays away from being 7-0,” Massie said. “It ought to be a good opportunity for us and a good challenge.”
