Shawnee pulls out 2nd straight OT win

Shawnee High School junior Jaelin Williams had a game-high 22 points and 14 rebounds as the host Braves defeated Catholic Central 59-51 in overtime in nonconference boys basketball action Tuesday.

The Irish’s Brian Kelly hit two technical free throws with 13 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 48. Williams went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe in the extra period to give Shawnee its second straight OT win.

Kelly led Central (13-5) with 18 points.

Derek Tincher added 10 points for the Braves (13-5).

Urbana 57, Northwestern 46: The host Hillclimbers went on a 19-11 run in the final eight minutes to pick up their 15th straight win of the season.

It’s the longest winning streak for Urbana since 1965.

Zach Stillings had 26 points and 12 rebounds for the Climbers (17-1, 9-0 Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division), while teammates and brothers Tristan and Karl Singer added 17 and 11 points, respectively.

For Northwestern (4-14, 3-6 CBC), Cody Lough had 16 points and Tevin Springs added 12 points.

Xenia 56, Tecumseh 49: The Buccaneers hit 10 treys to hand the host Arrows their second straight loss.

Chase Culbertson scored 18 points and Codi Frank chipped in 11 points for Tecumseh (13-6).

Dominique Tucker poured in 19 points for Xenia (12-7).

Trotwood 67, Springfield 58: The Rams went on a 19-9 run in the third quarter to get past the pesky Wildcats.

Henry Alexander and Brantley Davis both tossed in 17 points and Daeshawn Jackson added 13 points for Springfield (6-12).

Jamar Hammonds scored 21 points for Trotwood (11-7).

Yellow Springs 86, Emmanuel Christian 75: The host Bulldogs outscored the Lions 52-31 in the second half to pick up a Metro Buckeye Conference victory.

Darius Stroder scored 26 points, Ryan Mahoney had 15 points and Jared Klawer chipped in 12 points for Emmanuel (4-15, 2-9 MBC).

Roland Newsome had a game-high 30 points and 11 rebounds, Greg Felder Jr. scored 16 points and Cole Edwards added 14 points for Yellow Springs (6-12, 5-6 MBC).
